Polo Contacts Worldwide

Hello my friends, I started playing polo recently and really felt that despite having a good basic infrastructure the polo has not taken off in the city. So, I hope to have your views on how to make polo more popular.
I thank you all.

Hi, Waseem.......How are you? I have the same problem in my city,Hyderabad(INDIA)..........but what I tried to do is.........made polo More accessible to people specially kids..........................at my club...............I contacted many schools and education institutions and requested them to send in students for the weekend’s for joy rides and let them spend some time with the horses........And I also made them look at our club games and chukkas.......This made them more enthusiastic towards horses and polo......................And Allah ke fazal se..............now I have 70 Kids taking part in Polo clinics....................which are designed especially for them...........as the clinics are Cheap, and affordable by everyone...............and even the time is altered for them......we are able to see many new Polo faces in Hyderabad.
But the Drawback I faced is that after they start playing...............many of them drop the game because when they start to play they need their own horses and equipment................it becomes a bit expensive for them................as my club cannot cater for so many players........but some of them continue............on their on.
But Hey!! It’s the king of games still played by kings.................Take Care
Bye

AOA Hafeez........Thanks for the ideas and yes it is a logical way of doing it but our problem is a bit different..the infrastructure we have is run by the army and they try the same but most of the kids are from the army families and their families have to move to different stations every three years and you loose a new lot of kids who were trained. The problem is that there is no private club which offcourse will not face such problem like I mentioned.

By the way what costs and land is required to have a good polo facility?

I await your news.

Hi Waseem, The main problem I faced was funding, as many people don’t want to pay for the expensive polo packages...............or chukka fee.
To reduce the costs I bought retired polo ponies at cheap prices........................some of them were also gifted to me by appreciating players, Patrons and polo enthusiasts....................So I had a string of well trained, seasoned ponies which are good for kids...............and the for the land prospective.............I started my club as a riding school...............now it’s a polo club.......................So I did not spend a lot on land......................we have our facility on 5 Acres................we consume every part of the land for different proposes..................like we have a Arena Polo field..............Schooling area...............Sand pits..............and our Stables.......................Right now we have a string of 12 ponies dedicated for the Polo school.............which I think is good enough for a polo school...........what do you Say?? ..In Hyderabad we have only one tournamnet polo field owned by the army............so we have minimum access to it.

Take Care
