Polo Contacts Worldwide

Hello everybody; if my question irritates you please dont be annoyed, i am asking the question because of what i did learnt from some people when they know that i am interested in polo, they told me that it is not meant for the poors like me.

I was told that i need a horse, and other things ,all are expensive materials , but i am determined to make it ,but to be honest i sincerely discovered that it is not going to be an easy task at all for me .It is a must for me to prove that poverty is a challenge not a failure , a means to success

Assuming that you know a little about the care of horses and can ride well, then get a job as a groom with the best barn you can find even if it's working part-time. Then start working on making sure they want you full-time and can't live with out your detailed style of working. Start learning what works and fallow though with every task. Show up before any other groom with a clean shirt well shaved, hair cut looking sharp. Like you have a job and are proud of it that your not on the street. No one wants or needs a slob. Never use any sort of drugs or drink to get drunk as I have not met the player yet that can do both well. Stay late doing extra work. Keep things super clean for the horses and around the barn, yes it is important. Work you day job, then side jobs and weekend jobs and extra jobs.
That my man is a plan that works. I stuck to it and it took me from being just another groom, to a player that then got invited to parties to meet other people that saw my efforts and wanted to help me. From there I went to a five goal player, to a ranch owner and now I'm retired playing with my boys and having the time of my life.....Oh and I still work my ass off everyday for myself. Funding myself. and have the respect of several good men. Are you up for the challenge if not, forget it.
Yeah Alfonso, great posting !
apart from that, you are the kind of guy that gets the girls all flushed with admiration! siiiiiiiigh!
Thanks indeed , your words and advise are words of wisdom and courage to me , but how do i get in touch with you , i want to move from grass to grace

Your words are really words of inteligence
What Alfonso said is exactly what you should do...Start from the bottom and try to work yourself to the top.
Hola Alfonso,
Excelent !!
By the way, are you friend of the Beguerie´s ? Are you from Lobos ?
If so, I grew up in Salvador Maria, my family owned La Atalaya
Regards
Yea, Ricardo and I are good friend now, along with the rest of the family. They are members of the Santa Maria de Lobos Club, so we play a lot together and I have also played at the beach farm. Have we crossed paths and not know it? I am much better at knowing faces then names! I have only lived in Lobos for three years. I am from a small town in the prov. Cordoba called Alejo Ladesma off Rt. 8 but, left it when I was a teen to work in Europe then the U.S.
I also know your families farm. I played a tournament there with my boy a little over a year ago, Nice place.
When we can we should try to meet up.
R, Alfonso
We should start a Alfonso Fan Club....Great advice!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheers!
I think its for all folk. some of the best players are from very normal backgrounds and get sponsored by wealthy folk to enable them to pay subs and purchase polo gear etc because they are dedicated and good players,some are rich and play well some are rich and cant ride and spend several thousands on lessons or buy very well schooled ponies ;

SO POLO IS FOR ALL !

follow your dream it takes all sorts to make the world go round.

mx
PS im not rich or poor. ive ridden for yrs and spent my money wisely on lessons and visited argentina shopping in BA , and stayed with Alex Olmos on a block forntnight at his ranch in curozo.
It was a great experiance and id recommend it to anyone.
I then returned to the uk and kept up lessons once a fortnight in the cotswolds with Johnpy Smail and stick and balled at home as much as poss inbetween.
I know live in france and adore polo but havent played for a few yrs due to shoulder dislocations but still go to watch others and I still love the buzz and atmosphere.
we went to la baule club at the weekend to show our support and admire the club house and grounds and cheer the players on. mx
Polo is a game for both rich and poors. For those people whose sentiments for the kingly sport are rich, they will keep on playing it plus those who are rich. However, I do believe that being rich always suits a polo player.
Never say never, I started my polo career at 53 years and am enjoying every minute. I spend every spare time I can stick and balling and on weekends or when we can playing chukkas, horses are wild African stock horses from western Sudan (prized in Nigeria) and I spend time bringing them into polo, great experience. Some may call it boring, but I love these animals, and training is a great part of polo. It takes patience, stamina, and the passion to suceed, the rest comes with the good people who surround you. Good luck, Ricky
