Dear Friends and Members of PCW,
Yet again I find myself not only censored but an entite thread deleted because the world has gone mad in its effort to be politically correct.to the point where we no longer may voice an opinion without fear of deletion!
Last evennig I responded to a posting suggesting that the British were not generous and that we had the gall to not apreciate Viveza Criollo. The same member that had posted that comment is the same member who mailed several of us begging letters.
Within such letters the member asked if I or friends of mine could ''fund'' a ticket to get them to Europe. This member did not say ''I would love a job'' or ''Im really willing to work'' on the contary, this person even had the audacity to say ''sod work'' within the mail and that their ''dream'' was to ''have a cash machine in their room''!!!!!!!
I had always been gracious in response to this person until last evening. I saw that this person was a litle riled that we had not helped her in the way she had hoped and then she said that she had ''thought that the British were generous'' also she could not understand why we had not liked her ''Viveza Criolla'' which is basicllay a sport in Argentina where the natives get pleasure from ripping off foreigners!
I in response basically told her Vivezza Crollo was a deceitful trait and that I suggest if she want to earn some dosh she should ''get off your ass and get a job'',
Today I see that the entite thread has been removed! WHY? I would like to know.
I didnt even use any words of mine that have been censored in the past. So what was that that so offended the PC police here?
Was it the political jibe about 1982? I wonder! Is it because this is a polo site and therefore one is not permitted to scibble over the lines?
May I suggest to the Administrators that they set up a policy page and give a list of do's and dont's which must be abided to otherwise its deletion!
Because deleting postings or entire threads without neither expanation or a policy is not only rude but worrying.
Yes the administration have done a marvelous job in setting up this wondersful site, but in doing so they have put themselves in a position where there must be guidlines prepared as to what the rules are with regard to content. Without this, censorship is not justified and in fact it is worse, it is in fact fascist! After all they are selecting what is to be deleted based on personal opinion of the moment and not based on what you have clarified the rules to be!
It seems to me that today more and more people prefer to deal with controversy and uncomfortable subjects just by pretending that they dont happen! Pressing the DELETE button seems to be such an easy solution to a problem.
Yes protecting members from highly offensive content is one thing, but getting to the point that one is no longer permitted to respond to offence is Draconian! especially as the offensive remarks were not deleted! but my response to them was!,
So where does censorship start and where does it end? that
is the danger of censorship and if an administration is going to enter into those murky waters he had better have a good and clear plan of action that is clear and understandable to all.
We are all subjected to the Nanny State and now it seems we ourselves our Nannying each others personal views.
The funny thing is, this is a polo site and some of the best polo lovers in history would have been outraged at such censorship, Such as Sir Winston Churchill, Major Ronald Fergusson even The Duke of Edinburgh. But they are great fearless men of the past and today we see a watered down society that live in fear of being seen as trouble makers or having the button pushed on them!
That my dear friends is why the world is in such a mess, because for a quiet life we no longer make a stand or have the guts to tell it like it is!
What a shame!
So while I think this is a fabulous site which has given me much pleasure,
I feel no alternative other than to resign in protest of the administrators current unclear policies.
Im sure this will be deleted too!
best regards to all
