In fact, there’s an attempt to create a women’s polo team for the University of Hawaii. Not sure how that’s going to pan out, but I’m trying to attract young female players either way (its primarily male dominated at Mokuleia). However, polo season in Mokuleia is from May-September. We have some great players from South America- 3 from Argentina. Ruben Gracida from Mexico is playing this 4th of July weekend and we’re pretty excited about his team. Polo in Hawaii is a lot different from the mainland- more laid back…I like to call it “Da’kine Polo” (or local polo). Its great for training- the field is located directly on the beach so you’re able to ride to exhaustion and then jump in the crystal blue waters.
