Am looking forward to the polo on Saturday. I won't be in a marquee, will be just paying $25 entry, parking car, and setting up picnic with friends. I have spent enough on polo marquee events. Which one will you be at? As I can go for a wonder over there at some stage and say hello, have a drink and compare views.
Unfortunately won't make the after party this time, as I have other plans that night and house sitting in Daylesford, however they usually are quite good, and lots of fun, not sure where it is this time.
Yes I am going to the International games at Werribee on Saturday 7th February, I'm having a birthday party whilst there, my belated one with friends. These games are really fantastic to watch, and well worth writing a story about.
In saying fantastic I went to the Portsea Polo over a week ago and it was really a brilliant performance by some of Australia's inspirational players.
I don't know whether anyone films these, but they should so people can buy on dvd, I was on the edge of my seat.
Look forward to the games in a few weeks, keep in touch, I'll email my mobile, it's always nice to meet people out of virtual land that I communicate with.
Cheers, Gabby xo

We are slowly getting away from that image although the involvement of Royalty has, since the earliest days of the sport, always added a beneficial contribution to the sport in other ways. The Prince of Wales raised in excess of £15m for charity during his polo career. On the whole the vast majority of players worldwide play for the enjoyment, excitement and fun of the sport rather than its associations with the "good life" - long may that continue!!
Welcome to PCW. Sadly not as much as I would wish - once every couple of years I guess. The profile of polo both here and in Europe is a bit higher than at home where it used to be a countryman's sport primarily - lots of travelling to play. In Europe it is more favoured by the city set I'm afraid, with grooms to do most of the schooling, exercising and tacking up - leaving the pure pleasure of playing just to the patrons!
Kindest,

Cheshire Polo Club can claim through a ‘direct line of succession’ to be the oldest polo club in England. It has been under its present name since 1957 but is an amalgamation of three older clubs; Manchester (1872), Wirral (1885) and Bowdon (1891).
