POLO FOR HARAIN!
Harain Aldama is an energetic 13 year-old boy with his whole life in front of him. His family moved to Lafayette, Colorado, when he was 6 years old. Harain has three younger siblings: Jessica (Lupita) is 11 years old, Harian who is 5 and a little sister Arelette who is just 2.
Until recently Harain was best known to the Lafayette community for his prowess on the soccer field, his quick intelligence and his kind, respectful nature.
In May, Harain was diagnosed with Acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).
Soon thereafter it was further determined that, in addition to the multiple rounds of intensive chemotherapy that he is undergoing, he will require bone marrow transplants.
He is fighting for his life.
Like many families, Harain's family is struggling and they do not have a lot. Harain has no health insurance and will not qualify at this time. His family, friends and multiple communities have rallied together to try to help.
A wife of a member of the Willow Creek Polo Club in Elizabeth, Colorado, is a former teacher of Harain’s, and has been part of the school community that has reached out to assist the Aldama family. When the owners of the Willow Creek Polo Club became aware of this family’s situation they offered to help.
On August 22, 2009 at 10:30am there will be a polo match to raise funds for Harain. Spectators will pay a minimal entrance fee (3$) and, if interested in taking part in a buffet meal after the game, bring a dish to share. A spit-fire BBQ sheep will be donated to the meal by the Club owners.
